Bimmah Sinkhole is one of Oman’s most beautiful natural swimming spots and a must-see on the way to Wadi Shab. This impressive limestone crater, filled with crystal-clear turquoise water, is located about a 90-minute drive from Muscat along the scenic coastal Route 17. With a diameter of approximately 50 meters and a depth of 20 meters, the sinkhole forms a spectacular natural swimming pool in the middle of the rugged landscape of Northern Oman. Thanks to the stone steps, parking, and changing facilities, the location is easily accessible to visitors.
A dip in Bimmah Sinkhole is a unique experience. The clear water feels pleasantly cool, and the shallow area makes it ideal for both a leisurely swim and cooling off during a self-drive tour through Oman. Adventurous travelers jump into the water from the rocky ledges (though we do not recommend this!), while others enjoy the serene surroundings. Although Oman is a traditional country, standard swimwear is generally accepted at tourist sites such as wadis and sinkholes. Out of respect for the local culture, we advise women to wear a swimsuit.
