Day 4 | The Harrat viewpoint, the Elephant Rock and AlUla city

The day starts with a morning flight from Riyadh to AlUla, Saudi Arabia’s open-air museum of natural and historical marvels. Head straight to Harrat Volcano Viewpoint, renowned as the region’s most stunning lookout. Gaze across a Martian-like terrain of jagged canyons, emerald oases, and surreal rock formations stretching endlessly - a scene so dramatic it rivals the “Edge of the World.”

No AlUla itinerary is complete without witnessing Elephant Rock (Jabal AlFil), a 50-meter-high sandstone giant sculpted by millennia of wind and water. Arrive at sunset to see this iconic formation glow under golden light, transforming into a lifelike “stone beast” against the desert sky - a photographer’s dream.

Step into history at AlUla Old Town, a UNESCO-listed labyrinth of 12th-century mud-brick homes and cobbled alleys frozen in time. Wander freely through this living heritage site, where whispers of ancient traders and pilgrims linger. As dusk paints the ruins in warm hues, soak in the town’s haunting beauty before savoring a traditional Saudi dinner under the stars.

Day 5 | Hegra, the AlUla Oasis and the Maraya Concert Hall

Embark on a journey through time and nature, blending UNESCO-listed heritage with striking landscapes. Today begins at Hegra, the iconic Nabatean city and Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel in rugged vintage Land Rovers to explore its awe-inspiring tombs, intricate rock-carved inscriptions, and desert panoramas where ancient history comes alive.

Next, wander through AlUla Oasis, a serene haven of shaded palm groves, fragrant gardens, and sustainable farmland. Stroll scenic trails past 2,000-year-old mud-brick dwellings and historic qanats (underground irrigation systems), witnessing how local farmers cultivate crops in harmony with the arid environment.

Refuel at AlUla’s top-rated restaurant, nestled amid lush oasis views. Savor farm-to-table dishes like zesty lemon pasta, tender lamb sandwiches, or avocado toast crowned with silky poached eggs. Don’t miss their flaky, buttery croissants - fresh from the oven.

The day concludes with a visit to the Maraya Concert Hall, a symbol of modernity, cultural evolution and Saudi Arabia's growing ambitions as a travel destination. The building's most striking feature is its giant mirrored exterior, which reflects the surrounding natural beauty and creates the illusion that the hall almost completely blends into its surroundings.
