Saudi Arabia's NEOM has added a new hotel project to its sustainable portfolio called Leyja. Leyja begins on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba and then heads inland through a valley with 400-meter-high cliffs. Leyja is part of NEOM, an ambitious $500 billion project initiated by Saudi Arabia as part of their visionary plan to create a futuristic megacity located in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
Leyja is part of the efforts of NEOM to become a multifaceted destination, in line with the Kingdom's ambitions to develop a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Vision 2030.
What makes Leyja so unique is its enchanting location amidst a beautiful natural area with an abundance of diverse plants and animals. The name "Leyja" refers to an ancient path that was once crowded by traders. The valley is characterized by breathtaking panoramas where visitors can enjoy the serene mountain and desert landscapes and the imposing rock formations. These rocks bear witness to millions of years of geological history and offer a fascinating glimpse into the past.
To highlight and protect the natural beauty of the area, 95 percent of the area will be preserved for nature, using innovative ecological designs and construction techniques. Sustainability and care for the environment are central to this effort.
The project includes three sustainable hotels with a total of 120 boutique rooms and suites.
Aimed at adventure and mountain sports enthusiasts, the first hotel runs along the walls of the valley like a staircase uphill.
The second hotel is located in the heart of the valley's largest oasis where nature is central.
The third hotel is a wellness retreat to unwind.
