Prior to 2019, entry into Saudi Arabia was limited to those with a valid business reason for their visit, regardless of religion. It was only possible to enter the country with a business visa, which required an application, sponsorship and documents from a company. At that time, the available visa categories were limited to a business visa, work visa (iqama), hajj and umrah visa, as well as a family visa. Since Sept. 27, 2019, it has been possible to apply for a tourist visa.
A tourist visa allows you to stay in Saudi Arabia for a maximum of 90 days within a 1-year period. In that one year, you may return multiple times. A tourist visa costs SAR 395/about €100 (depending on the daily exchange rate and country), which includes Saudi health insurance.
